The Prussian general and military theorist Carl von Clausewitz (1780-1831) laid down the formula that the war was “a mere continuation of politics by other means.”. It experiences to date – even by implication – sad confirmation. So also in Kosovo, where Serbs living there are exposed to today repeatedly attacks on life and limb, but also against their deep-rooted culture. Their home, in historical, cultural and religious point of view, the heart of Serbia, and thus the source of their identity – desecrated in a roaring gale of NATO bombing, murder and expulsion. Still testify monasteries destroyed and devastated cemeteries of what officially still regarded as necessary military intervention in Western Europe.<\/span><\/p>\n

The current debate about the application of the “Republic of Kosovo” to membership in UNESCO today is the continuation of war by other means and dissolves under the Serb minority legitimate fears. On the edge of the 70th session of the UN General Assembly <\/span>on <\/span>1<\/span>st<\/span> October 2015, discussed Kosovo President Atifete Jahjaga and the Director-General of UNESCO, <\/span>Irina <\/span>Bokova, the importance of strengthening further the protection of world cultural heritage in Kosovo, including the responsibility of Pristina.<\/span><\/p>\n

“The transfer of the responsibility <\/span>of serbian<\/span> cultural heritage and religious buildings in Kosovo and Metohija in the Government of the Republic of Kosovo is to be rejected. To date, these sites must be protected by the police and KFOR against attacks by extremist Albanians. Already, thousands of years old Serbian sacral monuments and other cultural assets are declared as “Kosovar”. We therefore condemn the attempt to create a foundation for the artificial state in southern Serbia on the UNESCO. The cultural and sacred heritage of Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija, their culture and identity must be protected! Therefore: hands off! “<\/span><\/p>\n
